Michal Smandek’s exhibition opens a series of presentations touching issues related to the travels of contemporary artists and the use of events and objects encountered on the way as a matter of their creative activities. The exhibition includes, among others, works from the series The Prognostic made during a trip to the Italian volcanoes. The project relates to the impact of the forces of nature to human activity, and vice versa human interference in nature. In The Prognostic the artist anticipates disaster as a spectacular phenomenon, to which the man, despite the support of technology, remains powerless.
