    To design a logo for this lecture series on Women in Gaming I focused on the 'W' rather than looking to do something feminine/feminist. I also avoided reproducing 'gaming' for a more mature identity that reflected the Unity brand. Read Less

There were a lot of groups titled Women in Gaming already existing when I was asked to design this title for a lecture series. I focused on the 'W' rather than creating something that could be perceived as too feminine/feminist. I also avoided using a 'gaming' metaphor in favor of a more mature identity that reflected the Unity brand. 
I started by pulling apart an existing logo searching for a cool way to do a W.
I wanted it to be asymmetrical in some way.  
I hit upon the darker version by chance when I put slightly transparent version of the logo over a dark background.
