Typographic Specimen

The aim of this brief is to design a type specimen that exhibits a new and classic font family chosen from a list of monotypes' new and classic releases. The specimen can take on any form but must effectively communicate the characteristics, history and general look and feel of the specific typeface. The ways in which we engage and interact with type must be considered and the main focus of the specimen should be the means through which typography communicates through visual interpretation.

I have chosen ITC Bodoni as a classic font family and Metro Nova as a new font family from Monotype. My concept focuses on the development of type from classic to new and more modern structure. I have made use of shifting geometric shapes and forms to represent the development and evolution of the type over time. The last pages show a drastic change in direction showing how contemporary design is pushing the boundaries of shape and form and and changing the course of typograpgic evolution.
