Loerie Awards - Vidi Amavi publication Design

Vidi Amavi | Cover and DPS Brief | Loerie Awards
The Loerie Awards is one of the most prestigious design awards of South Africa. For the brief of 2016 we were asked to choose a brand and a category and then integrate the two to create a way to promote the brand through a new and unique way or alternatively create our own brand from scratch. So, how can one create new ideas and apply them to existing brands to create something magical or create a new brand that is better and more unique than any other on the market. For this brief I decided to create a new brand that I would be creating within the publication category. I decided to create a brand called “Vidi Amavi”, which means we saw, we loved in Italian. The whole idea behind my brand was to create a series of magazines for plus size or curvy women, this magazine was to focus on the things that women don’t like about themselves because they are not seen as part of the idealized beauty that society has conditioned us into thinking as the norm. The point of the magazine, aside from it being a fashion and beauty magazine is to show women that even if they might not like something about themselves, it doesn’t mean somebody else doesn’t love that aspect of them. The brand will be targeted at plus size women of South Africa, that don’t fit the mold of idealized beauty created by society.
