During my time at Marvel as a Digital Compositor, I worked on some of the digital concept art books for the Marvel films. My work on these books included reformatting the book from print to digital use, using my CSS/HTML skills to enhance the way each book looked on the Kindle device specifically, and using my storytelling abilities to guide each user through the pages of the book. My experience with code made it possible for me to change the Kindle Reader’s default text to match the original text printed in the book while also changing the colors to avoid overshadowing the rest of the page content. This was a major solution to the readability issue we were experiencing when we paneled the original text as opposed to typing it in and reformatting it. I was able to give the pages the proper resolution while still keeping the text legible and interactive. For this book specifically, I worked with another designer who was responsible for reformatting the book for digital publishing while assisted with the coding side of this book’s digital production. This would allow the book to be more consistent with the other concept art books being developed. In order to complete the process of each concept art book, I made sure to check it from cover to cover on the Kindle for mistakes and consistency issues, ensuring that the viewer got the best experience possible.
