Blue Murder
Crime Television Show Introduction

This project was created originally for an advanced video techniques course offered at Arizona State University. The parameters of the project were to create a high-quality video sequence edited using Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects with the subject of our choosing.

We decided to create an introduction for a crime scene television show. The show is called Blue Murder and follows a detective solving crime in the grungy parts of Phoenix, Arizona. We chose this title for its double meaning; to cry blue murder is to make a noisy or loud protest, and although murder victims can't speak, they leave behind evidence that screams volumes.

At first, we wanted to go for a dark and mysterious feel that was slow-going and heavy. After some feedback from our peers on our original project, we decided to take the project in an entirely different direction.

More fast-paced, edgy, and colorful were our new goals. We wanted more movement in the piece to create more tension with the audience as they prepped to watch the crime show.

The project is edited entirely in Adobe Premiere Pro, where we adjusted video color, transparencies, speeds, transitions, and more down to each single frame. All of these adjustments come together to create the piece you will see here.

Thank you for watching, we hope you enjoy it!
