Ali was born in Chicago and raised in a lovely town 45 minutes north of New York City, appropriately named Pleasantville, NY. Her parents recognized her love of performing early on and put her in dance classes at age 3. At age 10, she performed in her first musical, playing the "little girl" in the New York debut of the Maury Yeston/Arthur Kopit Phantom at the Westchester Broadway Theater. Her role consisted of skipping around holding a balloon, scattering rose petals and running from a chandelier. She was hooked.

Ali continued to perform throughout middle and high school, but knowing that musical theater was a difficult and volatile business, she concentrated on academics as well, graduating as valedictorian of her class and enrolling in Yale University as a psychology major.

Of course, her love of performing proved too strong, and after graduation Ali chose to pursue musical theater. Since then, she has been fortunate enough to perform on Broadway, all over the country, and all over the world!
