These works were created for an illustration exhibition titled “Tall Tales + Small Scales”.
The work within the show “Tall Tales + Small Scales” is intended to be a show of whimsical storytelling, through visual character development and fantastical settings or environments. Each illustration and painting were created as part of an over-arching story line, based on characters created by the artists.
This series was designed to express the many ways memories can manifest to a person, and how they can intermingle with the memories of others in their surroundings. The story mostly focuses on the emotions and reflection of an elderly man as he wanders through his twilight years. These recollections can be represented by other characters or creatures besides himself, or just by simple shapes and colors. It can be difficult to tell what the mind has exaggerated and what has been kept factual.
