A short project for a competition entry done over a few short weekends.
When its time for children to go to sleep darkness can often be intimidating and scary, light is often the only source of comfort. “Loci” acts as a protective spirit; sitting, for example, on a side table by the bed emitting a warm glow which guards the child whilst it falls asleep.
“Loci” can be lifted from its base and taken with the child to protect it from the dangerous route to the bathroom or it’s parents room. With all the hardware within the removable light housed in one location it can sit firmly on a surface without rolling away. The light charges through induction whenever it is sitting on its base where the touch controls for the light also sit.
This simple product aims to help children who struggle with their fear of the dark at night by providing them with a protective spirit of light.
