This was a fun project, I was given the task of choosing a novel I would like to redesign. Since I've been a fan of the book for a long time and still had the copy from my childhood I chose The Secret Garden by Frances H. Burnett. Below I showed several different stages of the creative process, as well as the finished products.

Here is the full dust jacket design for the book. I included the fabric or textured layer I created for the design beleow.

Here is the background I created for the book cover, I wanted to create something that looked like a corderoy or quilted fabric.
After creating all of the cover design I then went to format the inside pages and created the margins for the text by using a monastic canon layout. In the images below I show the spread design.
The right hand tittle page. Given the time constraints I designed a vector illustration to be used on each tittle page, though I may do a new illustration for each chapter and revisit the work at a later date.
Two page spread. The typeface chosen is Palatino Linotype set at 13pt. I chose the font for it's friendly appearance and I chose 13 pt due to it being a childrens book.
