MEP_C TWO DIMENSIONS

Starting from a sheet of paper and following some given basic examples, I manipulated the sheet by folding and
explaining the procedure I followied to create these origami.
To create this uprights folds origami I followed the “ valley-mountain-valley” scheme, forming, always at the same distance, small folds shaped mountain. Note that the mountain fold is always in the middle of the two valley folds. The result is generally harmonious with these folds which, in a way, disturb the harmony of the 90 grams red sheet I chose. This is the first paper that I folded, I chose one simple to begin with and I did not find it difficult to create the wanted shape.
To try to create something a bit more complex, I cut a piece of very light colored paper in the shape of a semicircle and I folded it with mountain folds and valley folds along the shape of it. The result is a very nice play of light and shadows and it's fun to see how the folds have different sizes internally and externally the sheet’s outlines making a descent and ascent effect along the pleats. I chose a light sheet having to do simple and few consecutive folds.
This piece of 90 grams paper of green color was modeled with non-parallel folds. I initially divided the paper into eight equal parts and each has been folded along its diagonal to form four equal isosceles triangles. Finally, folding up all the folds I made before, I created a mix of uphill and downhill folds that meet eachother, some in the shade and others to light, creating a kind of particular green accordion. I have not found particular difficulties even with this example, for whom I have chosen to use the 90 grams paper as in my first origami in this range.
Completed the range of simple origami, I committed to create three more complex. For the first one of these, I cut a semicircle of yellow paper which I divided into eight equal parts following the pattern of mountain folds and valley folds. Then I joined in my hands all the creases I just created and I folded the piece of paper in half. When I re-opened and laid it on the table, I saw that it had formed "V" along the folds I had done. Turning the mountain folds into the valley folds and the valley ones in the mountain ones and giving volume to the " V ", I created this game of volumes, shadows and lights. For this example I chose the 90 grams paper, very manageable but retains well the form that you want to give to it. Surely I had to concentrate more than the origami I created previously, because the pleats are in different directions and it is not easy to move and fold the paper in this way.
This origami is the complicated phase of the yellow origami I mentioned earlier. The folds not only go in two different directions, but also in a third one. I can say that as well as the folds follow the pattern "valley - mountain - valley - mountain", that the shape of the piece of paper follows this trend. Also in this case I folded the sheet into eight parts in an accordion shape, and then , joined all the pleats , I bend the sheet into two parts at the same distance. Finally, as for the previous origami, I turned the mountain creases into the valley creases and the valley folds into the mountain folds highlighting the "V" just made. The shape of this origami is very imaginative, looks like a wave, both the color of the paper and the game of up and down that I created. Even more complicated than the previous, this example is the penultimate before the one that embarrassed me. Also for this one I used the 90 grams paper.
At first for my last origami I chose a lightweight paper that after was not suitable because, there being many folds to do, did not keep the shape that I wanted, so in the end I repeated the whole procedure with the cardboard that, being thicker and stiffer helped me to complete this origami. I took the cardboard and I split it into eight parts following the pattern "valley-mountain-valley", I gathered the creases, I folded the cardboard for the first time near one of its edges to create the "V". Then I turned the mountains pleats in the valley pleats and the mountains folds in the valley folds. Repeating exactly this process until the end of cardboard I made this very nice origami also rich in detail, with a play of light and shadows and very impressive that give the feeling of continuous movement. Although I found many difficulties in creating this last example, it is definitely the one that gave me more satisfaction because I imagine how many objects could be created with this mix of geometric shapes.
I took these pictures as examples because they show well how origami can be applied in any sector. We find the paper in the bow tie and in the labels of the beer bottles. The shape of the pieces of wood that make up the shelf recalls this folding technique as well as the fabric of this dress was modeled in geometric shapes like origami. I believe that many other materials, for example plastic, are suitable for this type of creations, the important thing is that they are easily formable.
