500s - The BuSSy Project

The performance was developed during a series of workshops with high school students and BuSSy's professional storyteller, exploring different predominant themes during that phase of our lives.
500s is an attempt to give a voice to an often ignored and rarely addressed age group. The stories shed light on gender issues and struggles of teenagers in Egypt.
In the storytelling performance I played different characters. One the characters was my own teenage self: A shy, introverted girl, who gets bullied by her classmates, yet tries to live a life of her own and face her parents with her desires, while trying to figure out wat she really wants.
Another character is Ali. Ali is a guy, who is friends with the popular group. He tries subconsciously to remain friendship with the popular group to guarantee a backbone by laughing at his friends jokes and imitating the things they in disregard of what he really wants and thinks.
At some other parts of the performance my lines were a mix of my own stories and similar stories of other teenagers.
