Sylt (Germany)
This series was shot on the island Sylt in the german north sea.

The title is meant to phonetically sound like the frisian phrase "klaar kimming", which means "clear horizon". It is also one half of the islands motto "rüm hart - klaar kimming", which translates to "pure heart - clear horizon".

The objects in focus are called "Buhnen" and where built to protect the shore from the erosion. This, however, has proven to be a giant waste of money, since the result of the Buhnen was quite the opposite.

Now, these Buhnen have been left to rot in the sea since decades, scaring the otherwise clear horizon ever since. Thus "Scar Kimming".

You can find several forms of Buhnen. Wooden, Stone, Metal - all with a different character and a different look.

Enjoy!
