Girwood Forest Fair is an annual event that features artists, hand-crafted items, exotic foods and entertainers from all over Alaska. The style of this piece was inspired by a Lino-cut workshop that I attended. It reflects the hand-crafted artwork that's displayed throughout the festival. I chose the bear as the main graphic for this piece because Alaska is known as the “Last Great Frontier” and is home to the black bear, brown bear, and the polar bear. The black and white color scheme further enhances the details throughout the illustration. This design shows equally as well on a variety of promotional items such as posters, t-shirts, and stickers.
