role / Concept, design, screen printing, lino cut & printing and letterpress.
duration / 4 weeks.
brief / Find four interesting objects or items in Plymouth—not to be bought from a charity shop. Through research and observational work attempt to create connections between the found
objects. The main aim was to explore the craft of print processes and techniques, to finally
produce a non-digitally printed poster.
realisation / The objects I found were; a rubber fish, a door handle, a newspaper and a piece
of paper which had notes about brain waves on it. After much experimentation with the different processes available, the final outcome was a screen print of a fish pattern, psychedelic in nature, representing the brain waves. The supporting text was in reference to the door handle and not believing everything that the press tells us, tying all of the found items together. I chose to use process colours as the project was all about print.
