Garden Grinders

In 2010, concurrently with the bottle opener project, we were to design a product that could be used in, or is based on, urban farming. Urban farming is the process of growing, cultivating, processing agriculture in a city, town, or village. This is a look at the final presentation for my product; Garden Grinders. Garden grinders were inspired by my hobby of cooking. Garden Grinders allowed a user to grow and grind fresh herbs, in a small space, in their homes.

Brainstorming

The first step was brainstorming what Urban Farming meant to us. The entire 20+ person class all participated in one large brainstorming session, and from there, each individual came up with their own product ideas.

Concept Sketches

I initially had to come up with a variety of different product concepts, and narrow my choice down from there. Sadly, some products didn't make the cut - the Crop Duster, which was an ass-shapped spray bottle, didn't make it through initial concept buy-off.

Benchmarking

Once my final concept was selected, I had to work out the various details of my product.

Final Product Renderings

Hand drawn final sketches were then turned into rendered final product sketches.
