Storyboard/Voice over #1

Instructions

The task for this project was to create a voice over on Adobe voice on our lives. We were instructed to take three points in our lives the past, present, and future and to tie all of them in with the current course were in Arts Foundations at George Brown College. This voice over would then be posted into behance to later be reviewed. This task was created to challenge us to use new software and figure out a creative way to get a point across that still left the audience with something to take from it .

Creative Process

I began the creative process of jotting down all the points in my life past, present, and future where I had high points, low points, and important information I have taken from these experiences. I then begun thinking of how I wanted to deliver the text. This was a very important step since all you have is an image and your voice. I picked specific slides where I could add a bit more comedy into the video. I did this to keep the listener intrigued and also to give them a sense of how I am as a person and that I can look back and laugh at some mistakes. Once all the slides and text was in I re-drew some old ideas and pictures that I talked about in the video. Finally I added background music and selected a layout that I found to be appropriate for my video, the layout is an chalkboard this was perfect to tie in the whole idea of learning to create and always being about to learn more about art and what it has to offer.

Materials

-iPad
-Adobe voice
-list of past present future prompt questions
-images from the internet/personal creations
-Effects and music provided by Adobe Voices

Production Method

To start the project I first answered a had full of the questions that were given to us. I did this to get a basic idea of where I could take this project and how have a nice flow to the story. Next I picked a select few of the questions and wrote it down beside the ideas I had before I started. I then laid the ideas out in Adobe voice as a rough draft to decided which each question should go. The next step was slide by slide recording my voice and making sure is was clear and clean sounding. Once I had my voice over for all the slides I then attached images from the internet and personal drawing of mine where appropriate. Once I had my images and voice put together I begun to do some final editing. I added a chalk board layout effect by going into the layout selection and the top of the screen. After I adjusted my volume on the music which came hand and hand with the layout.  finally I used the top right post button and copied my video into my clipboard, which I then copied and pasted onto the internet. Next I embedded the link which I could then take that link and post to me behance for submission.

Storyboard/Voice over #2

Introduction

As for my second story the task was a bit more open ended, instead of having us follow a past present future storyline we were able to create any story of our choosing. This was a blessing in some ways and a challenge in others. By leaving the task more open we could chose any topic we like but the topic would have to be something we felt strongly about for we still had to create a story that created interest and had a natural ark to it. The biggest challenges would be to find a solid topic that people could either learn something or take something away from the story.

Creative process

To begin the creative process I started brainstorming a few streets down at stonecutters lane. After various story ideas I decided to go with Marijuana what it is, what it's used for, the pros and cons, and what is going on currently in Canada with its legalization. After having my topic  I then developed on the message I was trying to send, which is informing people on why the facts and my own opinions should opens people's mind of marijuana as a legal substance. Next I wrote down notes for a personal section on weed giving my opinion on how it has helped me. Finally I picked appropriate I chose a layout that would complement my project and music to go with it.

Materials

-iPad
-Adobe voice
-information from the internet/photos

Production

Once I had my topic I did a lot of research on medical marijuana. I researched things like what conditions allow you to get a green card, the pros and cons, how I became illegal in the first place, and finally what the Canadian government is doing currently to move forward ing the legalization process. After conducting this research I broke down everything into sides in an order I felt comfortable with. Next I began recording my voice for each slide. Once I had the voices recorded I selected pictures from the internet that would go well with the slides. To finish my work I added citations for all my information on the last slide. Now that I had both my images and voice overs put together in order I chose a green and cream coloured layout which went well with my piece. I then adjusted the background music so it did not over power my voice. Once the video was complete I then shared it to my clipboard to be copied and pasted, This is where everything went wrong. I posted the link onto the internet like I did with the previous video but when I did this the video that popped up was a rough copy for the first one. I then attempted to go back to the Adobe voice app and retire the process, unfortunately my app would not open without out crashing before the program would start. I tired reopening the app multiple times but the same issue continued. I finally had to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe voice which when I then opened up had no save file of my project. It was truly  heartbreaking so see only the rough copy I made last week with none of the final voice over or images. In one final attempt I tried to recreate the voice over but after pressing on the rough copy the app closed again and I was back in the same situation as before.

Story Board what would have been

 -what is marijuana
-how do we get its effects?
-pros long/short term
-How it became illegal
-cons long/short term
-personal opinion on marijuana
-2016 Toronto weed march 420
-current work on the legalization of marijuana in Canada
-conclusion
-citations

Conclusion

Overall I did enjoy making the videos. In the beginning It felt awkward talking to an iPad for hours at a time and then listening them, but after awhile it did not bother me at all. I really became comfortable with it and in doing that my tone of voice I felt was very natural and true to me. I loved the creative assignment and how it was completely up to use on how we wanted to create it. The only thing that I hated was losing my favorite of the two due to unexplained technical difficulties. Asides from that I did take away some important tips and information that I know will help me forward the future in game design and animation.
