The Florrie Fight Club Liverpool

The Florrie Fight Club Liverpool
The Florrie was built by Sir Bernard Hall in 1889 who once was the Mayor of Liverpool. His daughter Florence tragically died at the age of 22 so he built the Florrie in memory of her. He built it as a boys club for the local boys that had had nothing to do during the week to keep them occupied so that they would not get up to trouble. I have taken this into account I decided the best use for the building is to take it back to its original use but with a modern take. I think a boxing and fright club would work best because it would keep the youth of Liverpool off the streets getting in trouble and teach them self discipline. It would not just be for boys but for girls too. There would be a gym in the basement for them to work out and exercise as obesity is a big problem at the moment and this would give them a place to keep healthy. There is also relaxation pool and steam room in the basement. Then there will be a healthy eating restraint, sports shop, reception, men’s training room and fighting training room on the ground floor. Then on the first floor there will be the main boxing training room, a client consultation room and the women’s changing room. I have also added a boxing arena There is a lot of blue and red throw out my design as there is a blue and red corner in a boxing ring so this inspired me for my colour schema. The over big inspiration for the colour scheme was the boxing shorts as boxers where very colour full shorts during fights. There shorts are also sometimes very sparkly so I have chosen flooring that reflects this in my design.

The main boxing training room will have two boxing rings an numerous punching bags of all shapes and sizes. Going with the red and blue corner theme I have crated blue and red giant boxing glove wall coverings for two walls at opposite ends of the room. I have left the ceiling high in full because i think it has a very dramatic look and it should keep the room cool because the heat will rise leaving cold air surrounding the boxers.

I have gone with a minimal colour scheme in the healthy restraint and use large art work to add colour. I have made an entire wall a piece of art by painting it striking red then applying three sets of giant 2D boxing gloves that look like there are hinging up. Then on the window wall I have crated large canvases of inspirational boxers to inspire the young people that attend the club. I have also added colour with multi colour chairs.
