Dan Estabrook is a photographer who uses old-timey processes like gum bichromates and carbon prints mixed with watercolor or guache to create fantastical images. His emphasis on charmingly disturbing juxtapositions stems from his interest in loss. These photos reminded me of hospitals in an odd way, so pulling from his vintage interests I decided to make my spreads mimic the styling of death and dying records from the late 1800s, hence the subtle gridwork and inky typography.
