Kadın, çoğu toplumsal alanda olduğu gibi sinemada da kendi kaderini ve yerini belirlerken hep duvarların arasında kalmış, klişelerin dışına çıkamamıştır. Türkiye sineması ilerlerken toplumun bakış açısını belirlemiş, hem gerçeği yansıtmış hem de tabir-i caizse onu bükmüştür. Kafamızda yer eden filmler aynı zamanda arzuyu, istekleri ve rüyaları biçimlendirerek farklı kuşaktan kadınları tarihsel ve sosyal değişimin gerektirdiklerine göre manipüle etmiştir.
Bu fotoğraf serisinde ‘’male gaze’’ kavramını da ele alarak sinemamızdaki kadını otoportrelerle farklı kalıplara sığdırdım. Bedenin mülkiyetinin kadının elinden çıkıp milyonların eline bir obje olarak geçmesini temel alarak, gözümüzün önünde kolayca canlanabilen iffet kadın, köylü kızı, pavyon yosması, aldatılan mağdur kadın, aldatan haysiyetsiz kadın ve niceleri... Women, struggled to fit in the cinema world as they have in most aspects of life. For a woman in the industry, breaking out of the clichés have been a challenge. Turkish cinema has directed the nation's perspective, reflected and played around the truth as seen fit. The movies which stayed with us both sculpted our desires, wants and dreams,, as well as manipulating the idea of "woman" for the needs of historical and sociological change.
