Shakespeare Unplugged

Shakespeare Unplugged (Volume 1 & Volume 2)
Following the sell-out first production of “Shakespeare Unplugged - Volume 1”, the bard’s glorious poetry returned for a second theatrical event. More Macbeth, more Hamlet, more Midsummer Night’s Dream, Julius Caesar and Henry V. Performed live in the majestic setting of an ancient theater with an original musical score and newly filmed scenes projected on the big screen.

1: Winter
In 1995 I went to see Hamlet with Kim Rossi Stuart and a big production at the theatre Verdi in Florence, but I remember that was a real disappointment- the stage design made with Ikea furniture, the ghost of his father completely drunk the whole show and the first actor could not speak louder than a whisper… This did not make a good impresssion on me, and I decided that Shakespeare could have died.
2: Summer
After 16 years I returned to see Shakespeare in a small theatre in Pisa with The English Theatre Company, where everything was very elegant, I remember that the actors (who are my friends in private life) completely transformed: their voice would change and if I could close my eyes I would think that they were not themselves. It was exciting and scary and dramatic. Irony was, it was all that theatre was meant to be and I had not yet seen. Now I can say Shakespeare is not dead but is in excellent health.
