exploration in merging two metals
We were asked to make a beautiful object using the skills we learned on the Bridgeport mill and lathe. I chose to make an aluminum cube with a brass rod press fit through from corner to corner. This required me making a specific jig to hold the cube at the exact angle to drill when keeping the mill squared up. It was an exercise in press fitting, combining two metals, and precise manufacturing.
