The idea was to create a movie poster with a centre focus. The vibrancy of the main colour, red, and the contrast intended to express the violence shown in the movie. The rounded type, tondo, was chosen to contrast with the shape of the centre. That is the central desire object in the film, the diamond.
The dog paw trail on the promotion pieces is to symbolise an essential role in the movie where a dog eat the diamond and end in the hands of the primal characters by accident.
