Brand name development
The former NW Federal Credit Union converted from a federally chartered credit union to a state charter, calling for removal of “federal” from the name. And since “NW” didn’t represent an employee group or the northwest, they needed a whole new name. Verity, which means the quality or state of being true or real, was unique and reflective of their values.

Formerly known as Alaska State Employees Federal Credit Union, this first Alaska-based, non-profit financial services cooperative needed a name that was a lot easier to say and that reflected their unique story.

Acquired by Accel-KKR in February 2013, Sage Nonprofit Solutions had the opportunity to elevate their company to a new level. Part of the process was an extensive rebrand, starting with the their name. Collaborating with the talented minds of Oliver Marketing Group, I presented Abila, a name derived from a Latin term meaning “skilled expert."  Abila reflects a more focused, strategic and streamlined business, dedicated to serving customers better.
