Media planners and brand managers perceived VK readers, the Kannadigas, as non-affluent and unaware of brands. 
But a small contest called "Kharidhi Khushi" run by VK during Diwali, shocked them with mind boggling response.
People sent pictures of all their big purchases and were absolutely not shy about showing off.

In this campaign, we showed the real VK readers, Kannadigas, who splurged during Diwali 2015,

as a celebrity. Instead of using models, we shot them as the hero and heroine of what

we called "VK's blockbuster- Vijay Karnataka's Karnataka".
