The inspiration for this concept was drawn from a garment  designed by an FIT student. What attracted me the most was how the dress seemed formal and yet, revealing at the same time.  The most impactful trait was the lace constructed around the waist like a spider web.
The queen is in her dressing room, casually looking over at her reflection as her spiders weave the garments over her. It is a reference to the scene when the animals create Cinderella’s dress but with an ominous twist.

The concept was to play along with the look and feel of the garment. The setting then became a cave-like cocoon that created a contrast between the drastic background and her dress. The look of the rugged, yet soft, texture of the cocoon was to reflect the delicacy of the garment. The spiders were hand crafted to have gem-shaped bodies to accentuate the elegance of this scene. Lastly, spider webs were suspended from the garment to the walls to help the simulate spiders creating the garment.
