GROW UP
I always wonder why my mom has extraordinary expectations for me. Mom always lets me learn things that she did not have a chance to and expects that I will be successful.
I have been asking myself that question again and again during my young days. And not until I turned 28, did I realize and find down the answer. It was the time I knew I conceived and was expecting the first child.
The decision of having a baby is always a courageous one, with full of responsibilities and challenges also. The woman accepts all the sacrifice, physical variation and those hard days of pregnancy. Children are invaluable assets, hope and the future of their parents. Every mothers would nuture and entrust things that they have not completed in her life to her children.
With the artwork "Grow up", I used my own hair as material with weaving and embroidery techniques to illustrate the pregnant belly and the growth of the fetus through the abdominal skin cracks. With the inner layer, I used Silicon pouring technique to create a soft and elastic spherical surface, which brings a sense of movement within the body.

Tôi luôn luôn thắc mắc tại sao mẹ tôi lại dành sự kỳ vọng đặc biệt vào bản thân tôi. Mẹ tôi luôn cho tôi học những thứ bà không được học và luôn mong tôi sẽ trở thành một người thành đạt.
Tôi luôn băn khoăn câu hỏi đó trong suốt thời kỳ thiếu niên tuổi trẻ của mình. Mãi đến năm 28 tuổi, tôi mới nhận ra và tìm được câu trả lời khi mình bắt đầu biết tin mình mang thai đứa con đầu tiên.
Quyết định có con luôn luôn là một quyết định dũng cảm và đầy trách nhiệm, thử thách. Người phụ nữ chấp nhận hy sinh, biến dạng thân thể, trải qua những tháng ngày vất vả thể chất thai kỳ. Con cái luôn là tài sản vô giá, là niềm hy vọng nuôi dưỡng ước mơ, là tương lai của bố mẹ. Những gì người mẹ chưa làm được cho cuộc đời mình đều muốn nuôi dưỡng, gửi gắm niềm hy vọng đó cho đứa con.
Tác phẩm “Grow Up” tôi dùng chất liệu là tóc của chính mình và kỹ thuật đan dệt, thêu để thể hiện lại hình thái bụng bầu, sự lớn lên của thai nhi qua những vết rạn nứt trên da bụng. Lớp bên trong tôi có dung kỹ thuật đổ Sillicon để tạo 1 bề mặt hình cầu mềm mại, có độ đàn hồi nhằm tạo ra cảm giác di chuyển bên trong vật thể.
