Pseudo-synesthesia
Correlation between pitch and brightness
This project deals with a trend in videogames thatcombine aspects of music manipulation with synchronous visuals and immersivegameplay. These games are all some form of hybrid of already established gamegenres with innovative audio/visual feedback. The project resulted in an interactive audio-visual experience that gives the feeling/emotion of what we call Pseudo-synesthesia.

Synesthesia is a neurological conditionwhere stimulation of one sensory modality leads to an automatic involuntaryexperience in another sensory modality. The games in question mainly deal withtwo modalities, namely vision and auditive. As medialogists we found thishybridization of sights and sounds to be an interesting phenomenon that wewanted to investigate further. We took inspiration from a wide range of gamesthat all utilize the aforementioned hybridisation in an innovative and excitingway. This project seeks to implement aspects of these games to create anotherhybrid which focuses on multimodal congruence vs. Incongruence and learningassociation.
