Don't Play With Water by Tomas Kauneckas

“The matter is not about how critics will appraise the exhibition. Themain aim is to put ones attention on the waste of the water and the waywe lie to ourselves about non-existing of this kind of problem. Anydiscussion that will be provoked by this exhibition will bring positiveeffect.” Says famous Lithuanian fashion and advertising photographerTomas Kauneckas. The artist also sees a positive impact of todayeconomy - people are forced to remember simple skills of sparing usageof the water.
Again and again the photographer displays theme of thewater after he presented his exhibition Year 2039. There modelsdressed by famous Lithuanian designers appeared in the neglected city, which is run off the water. The main characters of the exhibition Don’t Play With Water do not feel any shortage of the water. In these images we can find their criminal chronicles: the officerdepressed by the reality just have shot down; lady, the head of theenterprise is preparing for her last fight; businessman, who“entertains” colleagues by freaking them out by gun; family tragedy atdinner time; dangerous games in sleeping room or shower…
Tomas hopes that this exhibitionwill bring society to discussion and will get attention of the businessworld to help people to realize how important environment is and howoutside glamour and beauty die when basics are lost.
