THE CHALLENGE

The number of children who are obese is growing and has more than tripled in England over the past 25 years. But fitness and nutrition experts Mark Nesbitt and Kate Leadbeater are passionate about combatting this concerning trend. Their company combines fitness exercises, food education, creative and leadership tasks and well-being activities for children into an innovative programme, that is attracting rave reviews in the schools it is currently working with. But they needed to alter the negative perception amongst some children of being just a fitness bootcamp.

"I am so pleased we involved Brave at the early stages of business name formation. Their creativity and complete passion and understanding of our mission played a big part in making sure the new brand works for all our stakeholders. Brave continue to be a valued partner as we take the business forward as Fizz Bug."

THE SOLUTION

We were involved from the outset; the first task to establish a name. We worked with Kate and Mark to brainstorm and create the memorable brand name Fizz Bug. We then considered the brand’s offer. The resulting brand positioning; START SOMETHING SPECIAL was born. We also created a set of taglines to reinforce the positioning and form a robust messaging framework for Fizz Bug.

From there, our work led to the creation of the identity. Playful, confident and designed to appeal directly to children, Fizz Bug engages on every level. Vibrant colours and energetic and playful illustrations bring this innovative brand to life. The Fizz and Bug characters were developed by Ryan Perret, a graduate of Plymouth University. These can be seen in full on the new responsive website and corporate literature.

THE RESULTS

Feedback from the teachers and children participating in the programme has been resoundingly positive with perceptions well and truly shifted to where they belong. The re-brand has indeed played a part in helping to raise the profile of the business with Mark Nesbitt being shortlisted for Sports Teacher of the Year in the Evening Heralds 2016 Sports Personality of the Year.
