Together In Mission 2016

The Together in Mission Campaign is an annual campaign in which 300 parishes across 8,500 square miles of the Archdiocese come together to raise $16 Million for the parishes in most need. Without this support, many of these communities would be forced to close their doors.

The theme of "Though we are many, we are one," was chosen by the leadership committee, and we set out to reflect the theme in real stories from communities benefitting from Together in Mission. To do so we looked to celebrate the diversity in culture, language, ethnicity, and customs across the Archdiocese.

This diversity is reflected in our materials which represent the vibrant communities through vibrant designs not typical of religious materials. In total, our materials were translated into six different languages, totaling 30 variations created to fit the demographics of the 300 participating communities.

For this campaign I was responsible for the design of print materials, coordination of copywriting, on-site photography, and videography. Beyond these duties I assisted with day to day operations such as coordinating with mail-houses, assisting local parishes, and developing strategies for marketing.

It was an amazing leap forward from my previous year's participation, and a tremendous jump for the campaign which in two years of new leadership managed to recapture the attention and passion of parishioners across the Archdiocese.
2016 Campaign Community Spotlight
Holy Angels Church for the Deaf
Holy Angels Church for the Deaf is the only parish in the Archdiocese dedicated to serving the deaf and hard of hearing. A true story of faith and compassion, this community turned what many would see as a disability into a common experience to bond and celebrate. As such, their story was chosen to highlight the impact of Together in Mission.
2016 Together in Mission Campaign Poster
Using the theme, "Though we are many, we are one," we used imagery that showed the common bond all of these communities had; their common faith. The goal was to create a collage of people representing the various communities and how they were all tied together in their faith.
Community Spotlight Posters
In addition to the main poster, smaller campaign posters were created and distributed across the 300 parishes to help share individual community stories. These posters share the diversity of the Archdiocese, the importance of maintaining this rich culture, and how Together in Mission and its donors help keep this communities open.
Brochures
Beyond the larger marketing materials meant to live in the parishes, these smaller brochures were designed to be taken home. Using an all in one design, this brochure contained information on why and how to make a gift. The bottom of the brochure included a perforated edge to detach the giving portion for one to return to the parish.
A direct mail version of the brochure was also created to accompany pledge forms and return envelopes sent to previous donors who may not have gotten the materials at their parish.
On-Site Photography at Holy Name of Jesus School
It was important to capture images of life at these parish communities. Holy Name of Jesus School was one of several locations we visited to capture photographs to use in our print and digital marketing campaigns.
2016 Campaign Manual
The campaign manual was created to aid the 300 parish communities to participate in the campaign successfully. The goal was to create a piece that reflected the beauty and diversity of the Archdiocese while providing information on procedures, parish participation, goals, and resource information.
Bulletin Insert
The bulletin insert was used as an additional piece to give more information to interested parishioners that wanted to know where the money from the campaign goes. It contained a message from the Archbishop, a highlight of Holy Angels Church for the Deaf, and statistics from the previous year's campaign.

Direct Mail Envelopes and Letterhead
The suite of direct mail materials for the 2016 campaign was designed to be vibrant, unique, and eye catching. This was done to avoid having the pieces thrown away or lost with other pieces of mail. The same communities highlighted in other materials were used here to keep a consistent narrative and visual theme.

The letterhead contained a space with a small description of the community on the envelope. Each piece was meant to compliment each other and draw the recipient into the story and mission of the campaign.
2016 was a big leap for the Together in Mission campaign. With more cohesion amongst the marketing materials and efforts, we were able to tell powerful stories of hope and faith that motivated more to join and support communities in need. We continued to push the envelope visually, creating materials that were refreshing and different amongst the backdrop of normal religious materials.
