The new center for music education is a brand-new standalone institution in a neighborhood west of the University of Oregon. The music faculty draws from the College of Music, and teach local kids the joys of music and the art of performance with a listening and playing curriculum. The building is a testament to a neighborhood on the cusp of a developing commercial district and a quiet historic collegiate family neighborhood. The 10,000 sf facility has a variety of small practice studios, classrooms, gathering spaces, outdoor courts, and comfortable auditorium for all-school recitals. It is built with respect to regional wood construction techniques and the zeitgeist of a smart, quiet neighborhood.
