Ganesh is a Hindu god. He is an anthropomorphic elephant, who is some times depicted with two arms and other times with four. I have chosen the four arm version. He holds his own broken tusk in his lower-right hand and holds a delicacy, in his lower-left hand. In one upper arm, he holds a golden handled ax, and in the other upper arm, a noose. I have placed him seated in front of a pink lotus flower, as part of a symbol of new beginnings unfolding. He is known as the remover of obstacles, patron of arts and sciences, the lord of intellect and wisdom, the god of beginnings, and patron of letters and learning.
It is General's Kimberly watercolor pencil on Canson watercolor paper (18" square). It took about 24 hours to finish in 2015. Once complete, it was covered with a spray varnish. It has an acid-free mat that makes it 24" square and a foamboard backing, wrapped in an archival plastic bag. The back of the foam board has Command damage-free hook and loop strips, and it comes with more strips to put on your wall for easy hanging without a frame. The logo watermark is not on the original painting or any final printed products.
I created this piece because I was wanting to remove some obstacles in my own life (both personal and professional), and move forward successfully. I have a friend who incorporated Ganesh into his life via logos and a tattoo, and his career has catapulted forward since. I'm hoping to have the same luck.
