WORKING WITH LIVING HISTORY
The Frigate 'Shtandart' is an exact copy of the first Russian Baltic fleet's
warship built by tsar Peter the Great in 1703. It was reconstructed by the
young fancy crew in St. Petersburg and launched in 1999.
'Shtandart' is a sail training ship, crewed by young volunteers and trainees.
The frigate takes part in regattas and maritime festivals all around Europe
including the 'Tall Ships Races'. It visits many coastal cities and towns,
travelling over 5000 nautical miles each season.
Our cooperation began with the redesign of the frigate's logo and the
creation of original illustration for its subsequent use in promotional
materials. The task was to streamline style solutions that have been
previously used by 'Shtandart' crew and to refresh the visual image
of the project.
One of the most interesting stages of the work was the workin up of
a wall calendar for 2016 with photos by Dmitry Kashporov — frigate's
friend and volunteer. Now the calendar adorns the walls in offices and
homes of numerous sea romantics.
In just a few years of collaboration with 'Shtandart' we have carried out
more than a dozen of tasks and built up many promotional materials.
Gratitude from the frigate's captain and crew is one of the most valuable
milestones in the studio's track record.
