Pastor Grill is a taco restaurant chain in Mexico City. Both our branding and interior design proposals intend to reflect the project’s innate Mexican flair in a way that feels friendly, comfortable and inviting, which is unexpected in a traditional taco place. By using iconic references of modern Mexican architecture, our design places the visitor in a completely Mexican atmosphere that feels familiar and honest without being cliché. This is especially evident in the brightly colored niches and the wainscoting with geometric patterns along the walls.

To achieve this effect, we used indirect lighting coupled with natural and rocky materials, such as wooden furniture, clay lamps, concrete flooring, and hydraulic mosaic tiles on the ceiling. Used in a surprising and refreshing way, the deep blue hydraulic tile ceiling is a signature characteristic of the space, since it’s a material widely used in Mexico for flooring. The smooth aspect of the material also helps to visually clean and amplify the small space of the restaurant.

We decided to keep the stainless steel kitchen open and in full view in order to maintain the essence of a traditional taqueria or taco stand.

Wooden furniture brings warmth to the space as a whole.
