Personification, Onomatopoeia & Metaphor

Photoshop & Illustrator. Year 2
Personification:
When a non-living thing or any abstract object/ concept/ emotion or statement are given human qualities; it is known as personification. These eight characters as shown are non living objects that has given a narrative personality. The texture overlaid symbolises their identity and characteristics that each of them consist of. Personification helps me understand visual thinking and experiment my style with different illustration techniques.

Onomatopoeia: The formation of words that imitates sound such as: “Buzz, Beep, Whirr, Click, Clack, Clunk, Clatter, Clink, Achoo, Ahem, Fizz, Bah, Bump, Bam, Bang, Bash, Puff, Bawl, Boing, Bong Bonk, Boo and etc”. The texture overlaid helps to further emphasise on the sound they made. Some of them also represents my personality such as loving hard rock music, as well as being a honey lover.

Metaphor: Metaphor allows me to expand their meaning and turn into visual expression. It may be the most challenging among the three expressive illustration, but it is also the most meaningful one as it helps me express my aesthetic judgement so as to communicate effectively and unambiguously. The three metaphors basically talks about freedom, richness and politics. I decided to choose these three topics as it relates to me in some parts of my life.
