Cairngorms National Park: Natural History Portfolio
Last year I was lucky enough to gain a place on my course's annual trip up to Scotland to spend 9 days in the Cairngorms National Park.
The Cairngorms Park was established in 2003 and covers the Cairngorms Mountain range and the surrounding hills and countryside; and at 4,528 km2 it is the UKs largest national park and is home to some of Britains most loved but endangered species. This huge national park is an incredible place to visit; offering stunning landscape views and the oppurtunity to see a a wide variety of wildlife.
The Trip:
My joureny, time and experience in the Cairngorms is one that I will keep with me forever; it is a truley amazing and breathtaking place and the trip offered me and my fellow course mates the chance to witness some incredible moments.
The trip lasted 9 days in total; two of these days being set aside for travelling. During the trip we climbed Ben Rines, stalked mountain hare, sat in a Red Squirrel hide, staked out a well known Crested Tit feeding area, scaled Mount Cairngorm, army crawled down a snowy hill after Ptarmigan and had the chance to spend a night in a hide in the middle of the Cairngorms and awake to the sounds and site of Black Grouse lekking.
What follows is a collection of my favourite shots from the trip: both landscape and wildlife.
