Throughout history, every civilization built and refined different relationships with their environment. As technology and ideology were developed, they created different visions of reality and each civilizarion forged an identity and a particular relationship with light. The type of architecture that was developed in Eastern Civilization cast away the light from the buildings generating subtle and delicate lighting environments. From this limitation eastern civilization refines its relationship with shadow and recreated in their environments a play between light and shadow as a representation of that impenetrable mystery that is the universe. But in the West in recent centuries, scientific truth tries to abolish the mystery, ignoring the shadows, so it tends to illuminate the surroundings as much as possible, banishing the night of our lives.
