Localternative Sri Lanka
This project was commisioned by the Sewalanka Foundation, a local NGO, in collaboration with Ethan Gelber, an Australian tourism journalist who has also worked on projects for the Lonely Planet organisation.

The project objective was to design a map which which not only provide essential guidance to tourist, but also directs people to local communities which facilitates the growth of tourism through their small to medium scale businesses and entrepreneurship.

The design consists of water colour-styled textures, suffused by earthy tones that supplement the geography and elements of the land, while specific destinations are highlighted by colour themed cartoon icons which is memorable and acts as an easy guide through the map.

Each icon represents and directs the reader to a  'fact box' at the back of the map, which provides a detailed information on corresponding locations.
