This is a book about Her, one of my favourite movies about the romance between an ordinary human and an operating system in a near future. The book is made to re-create the poetic atmosphere of the movie and depict the story in an engaging way. The book cover puts the two main characters Theodore and Samantha together – Samantha, represented by graphics of sound waves (which also mimics the iconic operating system motion graphics in the movie), overlaps on the portrait of Theodore. The graphics representing Samantha was laser engraved onto a transparent acrylic sheet. Unlike the softness of paper, it gives a sense of coldness, while symbolising the device screen and the barrier between the romantic relationship between humans and technology.
