The base image used for this project.
Collages using the original source image following circular and rectangular order to form a sense of space.
Two shapes highlighted from the orginal illustration.
New shapes were generated from the overlapping of the two shapes. Adobe Illustrator.
Extruding the previously generated shapes to form a cityscape. Modeled and rendered in Rhinoceros.
Handmade model of a playground using the generated shapes from above. Laser cutted masonite panels.
One shape highligted instead of two
A two dimensional "scape" design using only one shape from the above image. The only methods allowed for the transformation of the shape was scaling, rotating, and moving.
Final: Completed model titled "rotationscape" featuring a maze like scape where a rotating and moving zone is inside of another rotating zone inside of another rotating zone. The design allows the rotating movement to be continued with the future addition of even larger zones.
Diagram showing the construction of the rotationscape in three circular zones. Adobe Illustrator.
A quick video showing zone2 rotating within zone3. Rhinoceros, Adobe Photoshop stop motion sequence.
A timelapse drawing showing the infinite possibilities the maze opens up while rotating. Sharpie on paper.
