Anna Meyer opened Columbia’s first allergen-free bakery and cafe with Range Free on October 2015. While the city has a few restaurants that cater to gluten-free and vegetarian diets, she felt most menus lacked accommodation for people who additionally needed grain-free, nut-free, and soy-free foods. Being diagnosed with 24 food allergies herself and with years of commercial baking experience under her belt, Anna was inspired to take on the challenge to make her allergen-free dreams come true.

Anna wanted a visual identity that felt classic, not overtly kitschy, and stay in theme with the “-free” symbol to best communicate her mission. The long prairie grass stalk serves as a hyphen-replacing dash to the name, and is also a nod to her Midwestern roots and plan to keep ingredients and sources as local as possible.
