SURFACE - an experimental photography on non-traditional methods using an alternative digital capture device like a flatbed scanner. The project aims to explore fluids movement on surfaces of various objects while scanning is progressing.
In this experiment, 6 plastic culture petri dish of 100mm diameter x 15mm height were used as the object and a medical syringe was used as a source to transport fluids to the dish. The initial idea is to capture movement by squeezing the syringe so that water will be transported onto the dish while scanning is progressing. As I explored further, I use an air blower instead to create fluid movement but the result was not what I expected. Cracked my brain and thought why don’t I agitate the scanner during scanning!
Started with light agitation of the scanner in a rocking manner like a see-saw. Next in circular movement and finally with stronger agitation in circular movement.
