VOICES: A Story About What I Do

INTRODUCTION

I will be creating a story that details my creative life. The story will cover three periods of time-my creative/artistic life in the past, my current creative life as a student in Foundation Art and Design and my ambitions for my future creative direction.
The purpose of my overall recorded narrative should be apparent to the audience, and overall process should demonstrate a mobile workflow. Below is the documentation of my process.

Details of the MATERIALS used

Apple iPad
Adobe Voice
Adobe Photoshop CS6
Speaker
Headphone

 WORKFLOW information
                    3 part questions

PAST:
Who/What were your earliest creative influences and why were they so important to you?
Anime: Sailor Moon and Inu Yasha. The storytelling and stylization were inspiring.
What was your earliest memory of a creative accomplishment that you were proud of?
I won a bookmark design contest in kindergarten.
Who/What stood in the way of your creativity and how did you prevail against them/it?
Myself. Constant self doubt. Kept on drawing whatever came to mind to overcome this.
What was your area of interest and why?
Animation, because it combines my love of visual arts and storytelling.
Which experiences, interests or knowledge from your earlier life prepared you for pursuit of your current area of interest?
I was a participant in the Ada Slaigth Youth Arts Mentorship Program. My industry mentor was Michelle Lo.
Which singular event in your past most affected your decision to pursue your area of interest?
In high school, my art teacher introduced me to Sheridan Animation.
Who influenced or assisted you in pursuing your career ambitions, interests, or skill in this area?
Michelle Lo, my industry mentor, helped me build my draftsmanship skills required for animation.

PRESENT:
How have your interests affected your life as a whole (family, friends, where you live)?
I feel like I've surrounded myself with like minded creatives. I also tend to explore more of the city in hopes of gaining inspiration.
How would you sum up your creative, artistic or design philosophy (ie. what is the role of creativity in your own life and in the life of humanity in general?)?
Art is everywhere. Artists actually run the world.

How does your creative work speak to or represent your personal creative, artistic or design philosophy?
I like to incorporate different aspects of my life observations into my character designs.
How has your time at school challenged you creatively?
I'm allowed to try new mediums, and develop my perspective drawing skills.
Share a time when you enjoyed an epic win in an assignment at school and explain its importance.
My simple animation rendered at GBC was an epic win, because everything is made from scratch. This shows I have potential in the animation industry.
Share a time when you had an epic fail in an assignment at school and share what you learned from that experience.
My perspective drawing assignment for my foundation drawing course, at GBC, was an epic fail, because I rushed it. I wasn't happy with how it turned out, and will never rush assignments in the future.
Share a piece of work that you are exceedingly proud of and explain why you are so proud of it.
The simple animation rendered at GBC was something I was proud of, because everything is made from scratch. (Except for the audio.)
What has been the biggest highlight in the current pursuit of your interests?
The improvement in my life drawings.

FUTURE:
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Graduating from Sheridan Animation.
What are your next steps after finishing the foundation program?
Taking a gap year, and possibly enrolling in the Animation Portfolio Workshop.
What is the  important lesson have you learned as a student so far this year?
Art is a lifetime of learning.
What advice would you give to someone considering entering a program aimed at a career in a creative field?
Make sure you're passionate about it.

I hope I have a career in the animation industry.
