Hamilton Southeastern Junior High & Intermediate School had a wonderful logo created but they didn't have the rights to use the logo as they wish and couldn't afford to buy it out right from the designer. Which I heard wasn't completely original. Bummer. So I volunteered to recreate the logo. It gave me a good project to practice my skills using the new iPad Pro and Apple pencil. My review of the two pieces of hardware are down below. For now, you can see my process and which apps I used.

App:
Adobe Illustrator Draw
I looked on Google to get my inspiration and looked at some of the examples the school sent me. They wanted something bold to represent their mascot. I like the pictures of the panther showing teeth. I even found a logo similar to what I was looking for. Guide me, oh ferocious one!
Found the perfect picture and saved it to my Creative Cloud library. Imported it as my photo layer and decreased the opacity so I could start to draw my lines and shapes.
On the next few photos you can see that I created a layer for each color. Pathers colors are black, white, grey, and blue.
What you don't see is I had the black layer almost totally transparent as I did each layer. I'm showing without transparency because it is hard to see the lines otherwise.
Ok there! Not bad. I know I have a few messups but I can fix them in Illustrator.
Speaking of Illustrator. How do I get it from my iPad to Illustrator? PANIC!!!!!!
HAHAH.... Easy. Click that little button right there "Send to Illustrator CC" and watch the power of the Creative Sync do all the work for me. Love Love Love
Ok, I'm working away now. Step #1 for me is to go to Pathfinder > Shape Mode. Bring some of the lines and shapes together. Then I work on getting all my lines smoothed and repositioned.
All done. I'll send it off to the school to get some feedback. I might even try a couple of versions. Like whiskers and adding the tong. ?? Not sure yet.

It was super fun and easy.

LET'S GO PATHERS!!
iPad Pro. Really big. I like it though. For drawing, it is exactly what I needed. The iPad mini just wasn't doing it. The display is bright and perfect.
The Apple pencil. I almost forgot it wasn't a real pencil. I didn't see lag or wrong marks. As a lefty, I use my palm a lot while drawing and I was pleased that I could be comfortable and not change my process.

Happy Liz.
