The Cape Breton HighlandsNational Park Nature Interpretation Centre combines innovation and contemporary cutting-edge designto create an nature interpretation centre that has a low environmentalfootprint. The design incorporatespassive design along with sustainable strategies and technologies to accomplishan off-the-grid, low-impact building. The design of the building helps to create synergies between thesurrounding natural and the buildingitself, thereby integrating the centre into the local environment. Careful consideration was taken when choosingthe site, water and energy systems, and materials to help ensure the buildinghas a minimal impact. The interpretationcentre serves as a hub for learning about local flora and fauna and the historicalimportance of the local area and the Cape Breton National Highlands NationalPark. The highlight of theinterpretation centre is the exhibition area which displays educationalinformation. There is room for atemporary exhibit area which provides a display area for local artists andresearchers.
