"Putin the Terrible"
This illustration was done in response to an article that shed light on the atrocities connected to Vladimir Putin's political control in Russia today. It was inspired by an 1897 portrait of Ivan IV by Viktor Vasnetsov. By using the iconic image of Ivan the Terrible combined with the face of Vladimir Putin, the aim was to have the viewer see Putin in the same light as the barbaric and ruthless tsars of the past.
