AMYVA Textile + Graphic Project

AMYVA is the final-year project of knitwear designer Yi-Ling Kuo. To express the deep thinking behind the relationship between digital robots and human being, I joined the project as graphic designer to make sure the project is exposed in a better presented and graphic way to achieve a better understanding of the audiences.

CONCEPT

AMYVA, the name of the designer collcetion, was created with the help of Yi-Ling Kuo's English name AMY and the name of the artificial intelligence robot in the move Ex Machina called AVA. This was what provided the idea of AMYVA to come into being.

The workbook shows the entire process of the project including many sections such as inspiration, concept development, garment developmen, final presentation... It combines all different materials and experiements like drawing, plastic cut out, pop-up book etc. from Kuo.

We are trying to brand AMYVA as professional as we could, so we decided to label the garment to make it looks united. To emphasize the 'Textile design', a piece of close-up photograph of Kuo's textile has been selected to be shown on the label.

The image comes from Kuo's reference - the machinical elements and pictures of some of her signature textiles. The header is a combination of photoshop black and white image printed on gold paper. The gold paper selection is Peregrina Majestic Real Gold 120 gsm paper from G.F.Smith.

The CD sits on a gold paper with a pull-out, the logotype is laser cut that the gold at the bottom can be seen through.

The technical file book collects the test Kuo did before she came to the final pieces. It contains more than 40 pieces of fabric in different size, thickness and material. In this book, a crop has been given to each fabric which makes it look more decent.

A laser engraved logotype has been marked on the upper left corner.
