As part of a multifaceted collaboration with the Onassis Cultural Centre we were invited to design its 2015-2106 season programs including two publications featuring their educational programs, one aiming at schools and the other at families and individuals of all ages. For those publications we were asked to create a (long) series of illustrations that would be later used also as promotional graphics and in various other promotional publications such as posters flyers etc.
Our illustrations resemble analogue collages of solid-colored card cut outs that were in fact designed and crafted using our own-designed software and specially parameterized design software. This method enabled us to achieve a high-level of detail both in texture but also in lighting. In particular we managed to achieve the shadow effect a piece of card casts upon another when it is place on top of it. This is also evident in the Onassis Cultural Centre’s logo that was treated as “one more piece of card” in most compositions.
The composition of each event was inspired from its imagery, type, scope or feel and was aiming at provoking people to attend them by suggesting their mood rather than depicting realistic elements.
