I attended a meeting recently where I was given a hard deadline of two weeks to create a micro-site explaining all of the upcoming renovations to the Marriott Center and it's effect on the various categories of people that the changes might affect. Designing things that look good is great, but our professional world is bigger than that. You design according to deadlines, needs, market demands, and how your brand positions itself to it's market.
Two week deadline for a website = very crisp, very direct, very simple. After a few hours of work I passed on the following design to our web developer.
